Five. 5. F.i.V.E

Five months have gone by since Eli was born. I can hardly believe it. I know I say it every month about how big he's getting and how much he's grown, but I guess that's how it is with your first! This month he said 'Mama' for the first time. Yes my not-yet five month old said 'Mama'. Ask his father, it happened. Of course, I melted and almsot shed a tear. It was probably sounds he's playing with, but it was definitely 'Mama'. I stand my ground.
I can't figure out how to remove the weird sides.
He can stand holding onto something pretty well for not having too much balance. He can roll over, but dislikes it. Only rolls over in his bed after naps.

His new found love is our dog Nizmo. We call them brothers and they have truly evolved into that. If Nizmo lies next to Eli, Eli will roll onto his side and hold onto him. If Eli is crying, seeing Nizmo immediately calms him down. It's the sweetest relationship.

He will only fall asleep on his Daddy's chest, not myself. He will cuddle with me and giggle, but won't fall asleep on my chest anymore.

When waking up from naps he will lay in his bed playing and talking with his blanket or sleep sheep for a full 10 minutes before wanting to be picked up. He lays in there and rolls and cuddles. Cutest thing ever.

Bath time is a favorite time. We normally get at least 15 minutes of fun tubby time before he immediately shifts his mood to, "I'm done, get me out of here, NOW" which is always fun. Nizmo helps make the time last a little bit longer.
I have the sweetest family and I am so blessed by them. And with that photo...good bye until next time. Stay tuned for a fun 250 post giveaway!

This girl...

Has officially graduated! I am so proud of her and everything she has become.

From her soft, caring nature. To her drop dead gorgeous looks and her opera voice in between, yes I said opera. She can sing it like nobodies business! I love her! Congrats Emily. You did it! I can't wait to see what God has in store for you next!

Remember to always rely on Him when you need help. He will be there to pick up the pieces and help you move on. Friends come and go, but He will be by your side no matter what. Remember high school was just the beginning of the best times of your life. As sad as it is to see your friends go, it's not over. God's plan for you has just begun, you just wait.

Don't forget when you need an ear to listen or a crying shoulder, your sisters and I will always be there for you. We love you. Mom and Dad are there for you as well.

So is Eli, if you have a cupcake.

4.5 month favorites...long overdue

So we've been traveling a lot more then expected this month, which has pushed back a few things to get published one week too long. Some of our favorites have changed and others have remained constant, but overall I think our travel gear has been our favorite stuff this month.

As you know Eli and I had the pleasure of flying for the first time together.  These are the items we have come to love even more since traveling.

Rockin' Baby Sling: As you all know there are a various amount of carriers, slings, wraps and more for carting around your kid. Seriously, the consumer baby world is full of them. My good friend Becky purchased this sling as a gift for Eli's shower/birth/congratsgoodjob and we LOVE it. In fact my husband loves it to. The moby is great and I'm not knockin' any product here, if it works for you, awesome. But we love this because it's one item. No fumbling with wrapping, no adjusting (well, maybe a little), you throw it on and go. Honestly I didn't know if they would have me take Eli out at security in the airport (some airports still do), so I didn't know to use something with a whole bunch of buckles and wraps that would take forever. I'm not a fan of holding up others in line, so this worked perfectly for us.
Aden & Anais: I think I've mentioned these before, but I am definitely mentioning them again. These muslin wraps are the easiest, most durable pieces of fabric ever. Their uses are endless! Seriously, they are costly and most people wonder why a $40 piece of fabric is so awesome. Well, I've seen them last and look brand new over five years and three kids later. That's a lot of washes! No fading, tearing, nothing. They look new. These are also super easy to travel with because they ball up next to nothing, I took only one with us and it worked well. We use one in our jogging stroller. I'll let Eli's feet get about 20min of sun and then I cover them up (since I can't use sunscreen on him yet) lightly with one of these and voila, I don't worry about him over heating or getting burned. We have a set of four and when/if we have another baby I am definitely registering for more.
Go Crib: The thing we wanted most on our registry. This thing is awesome. So lightweight, portable and easy to use. I love, love, LOVE that it folds up into a backpack. They also have another lightweight super easy crib called the Lotus crib. If you don't like how the go crib is inflatable, go with that one. Either way, a definite favorite.

Britax Convertible Seat: Britax is a world leading car seat manufacture, I believe originating from Europe. Their constant safety and technology updates in their seats is what makes them awesome. Seriously. Eli hated his infant seat, I mean hated with a passion. Car rides with him were not fun. At. All. We switched him to a convertible seat and lo and behold, the screams stopped and he seamed happier overall. I think the infant seat was leaned way too far back for him and he loves to look around and just couldn't. The only downfall with this seat is it's size. It's huge. There's no good way of putting it, britax does not make seats for small cars. Even their infant seats are large. We are looking at a smaller seat for a our compact sedan, but for now, this is what we have. We make it work.

Sophie: Our teething babe has fallen head over heals with his Sophie giraffe and we love her. She's cute, she's safe, she squeaks and she won't break! The company has other toys besides Sophie, we have yet to try out but Sophie is our favorite so far.
That's what I can think of as our current favorites this month, of course there are more but these are our top. Enjoy!

California has a special place

I love California. Love it. Wish we could live there, but we don't. What I don't love about it is it's high gas prices....that's about it. Either way, maybe God will place us there in the future, you know when it won't have the highest gas prices in the nation...right. Anyway, one can dream but for now we will always visit family.

This was Eli's first plane trip and I have to just brag, my baby didn't cry once and had no ear problems! I am so proud of him! He nursed during take off and landing and slept for most of the plane ride each leg.

I will always cherish visiting family. As stressful as it can be, it is so worth it. God places people in our lives for an important reason. Each person we have met and know is there handpick, chosen for us. Our family is the only one we receive on this earth, the least we can do is try and have a relationship with them. I know that is not the case for some families, but even if you aren't 'blood' related, certain friends can be our family just like our 'blood' related ones. Whomever you consider family, remember to cherish them, love them, uplift them and always stay in contact with them. It's easy to lose someone, but its a lot harder to gain them back.

My trip turned out a little unexpected, instead of coming back to Boise before Memorial day weekend one missed flight turned into an extended vacation to Seattle as well. Boise is such a small airport hub so it was a lot more convenient to fly to Seattle, stay with family and have my husband drive out to meet us there. It was nice seeing both sides of our family in one trip.
I just loved being able to be with my son and see his interaction with our families now that he responds to people more. It was the sweetest thing, five minutes after being picked up from the air port I look back at the car seats and his cousin and him were holding hands. They had met a couple months prior when he was just over a month old and she was a little over 10 months. It was as if they were saying,

"Hi cousin, I missed you.."

Enjoy the rest of our trip photos.

Aubrey is ever the explorer

Even seasoned explores get stuck and require a little help
So of course the auntie with the baby strapped to her is first to jump in on the tall cliff and help her climb down.

A little sand surfing anyone?

Quick thought.

I've reached almost 250 posts, that's half of 500 yo! I was thinking about doing a give away. What do you think? Yes, no? What should I give away? Can't afford anything too expensive, could possibly contact a couple etsy sellers I know...
Any thoughts? Comment below!

Four months have gone by since Eli has been born. It still blows my mind he is here most days. We have a baby. We are parents. We are responsible for someone besides our selves. Yup, still in shock. I'm so thankful God chose us as his parents, he has placed such an amazing gift in our care.

Baby boy your so big! I know I say it everyday, but I'm in such awe at you. Your supposed to be asleep right now, but I hear you in your crib talking away. I love hearing your little voice, especially when I can make you giggle and smile. It's the best feeling ever. The Psalm that explains how you were intricately knit in my womb is such a reminder to me that you are ours. I did carry you.
You have become ever more aware of your surroundings. Always looking for your dad or myself. You love your puppy dog, Nizmo. If he is near you, you play with his hair. Your constantly trying to scoot around when on your belly, which the doctor says is pretty advanced. Always amazing us is your specialty. You got your first cold this past month and that was pretty miserable for myself and you. Let me tell you, you hate being congested. I can't blame you though, trying to eat and not being able to breathe is no fun. We have finally figured out which bottle you'll take after your bottle strike! It's a $15 comotomo bottle, of course you choose the most expensive one, you little trickster, you. But we don't care, as long as you take it, we will give it to you in exchange for date nights and mommy needs a break nights.

Your still teething, with no teeth in sight, yet. But the drool keeps coming full throttle! You've also figured out how to throw up on demand. Well, you don't do it on purpose, but you do it. Sticking your fingers in your mouth to help soothe your inflamed gums and you toss a finger a bit too far back. Nobody is safe with your hands in your mouth. Your absolute favorite thing is when daddy or I say,
"hi" to you. You giggle and smile and kick...oh we love it! You also love looking at yourself in the mirror, the baby in the mirror just smiles at you and you just love it!

You've definitely intertwined your little chubby hands in our hearts. There's no escaping you now. Even if your upset and your drop your lower lip, we want to make you happy as fast as we can no matter what it takes. I have a feeling that lower lip is going to get you whatever you want. Well, as long as your father doesn't teach you how to use it for legos. Yes, he plans on using you for toys. Don't fall into his tricks little boy! Don't worry, I'll probably give in anyway, you both deserve legos.

We love you Eli. We want the best for you. Stop stealing away our hearts.
